Naturalization Records

Since almost all of the Braunharts and their spouses immigrated from Germany to America, the majority became naturalized citizens.  Because of the rules of naturalization for wives and children before 1922, derivative citizenship often applied:

Derivative citizenship was granted to wives and minor children of naturalized men. Wives of naturalized men automatically became citizens from 1790-1922, either upon the naturalization of their husband, or marriage to a man who was already a U.S. citizen. From 1790-1940, minor children under the age of 21 automatically became citizens upon the naturalization of their father.

Some of the records have not been discovered during research, but many of the naturalization records have been found.  The information on the naturalization applications and certificates is quite enlightening and has many facts, as reported by the person themselves, usually an accurate representation of fact.  The following is a list of Braunhart ancestors whose documents have been found.  At the end of the list, there is a link that when clicked, will display all the naturalization documents for those listed.
