Bernhard Braunhart - the oldest child of Lewin and Minnie Zadek Braunhart, was the first Braunhart to immigrate to America (in 1857 at the age of 16!). He eventually landed in California, married in San Francisco, and was a merchant in San Bernardino.
He committed suicide in 1890, despondent over business failures and the breakup of his marriage to Rosa Levison Braunhart. He left one child - Harry, who lived most if his adult life in Agnews State Hospital in Santa Clara County, California.
Bernhard's gravestone marker has just been found. He is buried at the Home of Eternity Cemetery in San Bernardino, California.
